The Acting Class
The class is a combination of the
Meisner Technique, Scene Study, and structured
Improvisation. Each exercise is designed to build upon and reinforce the other. The
goal of the training is to keep the actors work spontaneous and
alive.
If you take a moment to reflect on the performances that you’ve been most impressed with over your lifetime, I can almost guarantee that the one thing they all had in common was spontaneity. Nothing keeps an audience more involved then watching an actor actually live through an experience in front of their eyes and in the moment.
Our job as actors is to live through an imaginary set of circumstances as if they were actually happening to us in that very moment. It’s not about pretending, it’s about believing. So when you hear someone say that great actors are good liars - that’s nonsense. Great acting has nothing to do with lying, and everything to do with the truth.
